Press Release

Muenzer Bharat Pvt. Ltd. starts operation
in Maharashtra’s first Energy-from-Waste Biodiesel plant

"The difference between what we do and what we can do would solve our problems. So the difference between talking about it and really tackling it. We tackled it and set the biggest internationalization step in our family history. Our Indian subsidiary, Muenzer Bharat Pvt. Ltd. opens its biodiesel production plant in Mumbai, "said Michael Muenzer, together with his brother Ewald-Marco Muenzer managing partner of the European Muenzer Bioindustrie GmbH.

In 2016, Muenzer Bharat Pvt. Ltd. was founded with a clear aim, collecting UCO and convert it to Biodiesel. “We started the National Used Cooking Oil Collection for India™ to support our nation to solve an increasing problem, the wrong disposal and handling of used cooking oil, " says Sanjay Shrivastaava, CEO of Muenzer Bharat. India faces the challenge of reducing its import dependency on fossil fuels and tackling greenhouse gas emissions. Moreover, the garbage problem has reached a dramatic level, especially with liquid wastes. "We offer solutions for both problems from a single source. Used Cooking Oil, which is currently disposed of via the sewer, and thus the sewage systems are clogged, is disposed of professionally and becomes the new feedstock for Biodiesel production. This makes a significant contribution to the decarbonisation of the transport and transport sector. And the Made in India, "continues Shrivastaava.

Ms. Swati Bhardwaj, Senior Nutrition Researcher Diabetes Foundation of India, New Delhi was bang on when she noted, “Cooking oils are reused everywhere, in home kitchens, in large restaurant and by roadside eateries and vendors.  At every stage of reheating or repeated frying, the unsaturated fat breaks down to increase the amounts of trans fats”. This reused Cooking Oil, is the prime reason for cardiac infraction, with studies proving without a shadow of doubt that UCO (Used Cooking Oil) leads to the formation of ‘Total Polar Compounds (TPC)’ making it unfit for human consumption.

This is where Muenzer Bharat comes in providing yeoman service, as it helps dispose this used cooking oil, after aggregating it from the FBOs, and then transforming the slimy gooey oil into Biodiesel, through a process termed trans-esterification.  It is Muenzer Bharat's avowed aim and goal to dispose off Used Cooking Oil the right way thereby preventing it from going back into the food chain and risking our collective health.

Being totally compliant with FSSAI Guidelines and with all safety mechanisms in place, Muenzer Bharat has initiated the “National Used Cooking Oil Collection Mission For India™” which will dispose off the Used Cooking oil in an environmental friendly manner, which are fully compliant to Govt. regulations  (getting more stringent over the last few months) Muenzer Bharat is certified by ISCC (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) which is a globally applied certification system for sustainability and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

This premier plant in Mumbai, will also provide gainful employment to many, whilst bettering the quality of life.

As the founder of our nation, Mahatma Gandhi affirmed, "Be the change you want to see in the world," and this makes Muenzer Bharat strive to reach their goals.
